A high level meeting of educated persons with disabilities of SAEPU was held at Humanity Welfare Organization HELpline Biijbehara on 25th September 2013. Around 30 Educated youth with disabilities from kulgam, anantnag, pulwama, Budgam, Srinagar and Baramulla districts participated in the meeting. The participants Highlighted the issues of disability including:
fake disability certificates issued by medical boards.
Amendment in Government order NO: 108 SW of Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, regarding job identification for persons with disabilities.
Effective implementation of Disability Act - 1998
Actual 3% reservation granted through recruiting agencies like PSC and SSRB
constitution of SAEPU - Specially Able Educated Persons Union.
In addition to the meeting a comprehensive stock of working of Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusion was taken by the Director Life Long Learning, University of Kashmir Dr. Ghulam Hassan Mir. Professor Mohmad Yousuf Ganaie, Department of History & President Kashmir University teachers Association. Programme officer DLL Jenab Nazeer A Ganaie and Assistant professor Distance Education Department University of Kashmir - Dr. Mohammad Altaf Ahangar.
The students of Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive education presented a group song and demonstrated Braille and Sign language methods of education. Whole audience was touched with the performance of these children with special needs.
Woolens donated by Arnimal a Delhi NGO were distributed by director llife long learning University of Kashmir among 70 children with special needs. Director announced that proposal for short term courses of livelihood generation for youth with disabilities will be accepted on priority when put forward by Humanity Welfare organization. HELpline.
Nazeer A Ganie and Aijaz Ahmad mir dedicated two songs for special kids.
all the persons with disabilities stressed that UGC sponsored special cell should be strengthened and Shaheel Mohammad and Mohamad Sultan should give more time towards information about different schemes and reservations granted to Persons with disabilities through university of Kashmir.
President SAEPU - Specially Able Educated Persons Union-Javed Ahmad Tak presented the vote of thanks and described the visit of disablility leaders to Helpline NGO as Historic event.
